Pune/Thane: Amid the CBI probe into the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) on Saturday postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday across the state. The decision was taken after a raid in Bhiwandi, Thane district, revealed that some individuals were found in possession of several questions matching the actual examination paper, officials said.
"The Council remains firmly committed to conducting the examination with complete transparency. Given the gravity of the situation and the need for an in-depth investigation, the examination scheduled for June 28, 2026, has been postponed," the Maharashtra State Council of Examination said in a release.
According to the Thane district administration, the suspected breach came to light in the early hours of Saturday when Bhiwandi Police acted on confidential intelligence regarding individuals possessing unauthorised information related to the examination paper.
"A raid was promptly conducted at the suspected location. Senior officials from the Maharashtra State Council of Examination were immediately summoned by the police to verify the seized material. Upon close inspection, it was confirmed that several questions found in the possession of the suspects matched the actual question paper prepared for the June 2026 TET," the Thane district administration said.
A formal criminal case has since been registered at the Bhiwandi Police Station, and a detailed investigation is underway.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice, the MSCE said the postponement was necessary to ensure complete transparency and allow law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged racket.
The council urged candidates not to rely on rumours and said the revised examination dates and updated schedule for TET 2026 would be announced soon on its official website.
